In the month of March and April, salmon lovers will rejoice with Buffet Town’s first-ever themed buffet –Salmonlicious.
My first impression when I stepped into Buffet Town was: Wow, this place is huge. It is a paradise for buffet lovers; live stations aplenty and bustling with activities, the variety is almost endless. You will need a bottomless pit in order to sample every single dish.
I love salmon, and I love buffets. Thus it is only natural that I was exhilarated to check out their offerings. In addition to the usual international buffet spread, they have incorporated salmon in some existing dishes and added a few new salmon dishes.
Here are some of the offerings:
Sashimi and Sushi Station
The quintessential Sashimi Station that is present in almost every buffet restaurant: at Buffet Town, the freshly sliced sashimi is efficiently replenished.
Must have: Seared Salmon Sashimi
The salmon sashimi is lightly seared on the surface and presented in sufficiently thick slices.
Sushi
Salmon wrapped in Vietnamese rice paper
Tempura Station
Must have: Salmon Chatsuke (Dinner only)
Mushroom Tempura
Okra Tempura
Ebi Tempura (Prawn)
More Salmonlicious offerings:
Baked Whole Salmon
Must have: Salmon Pizza
Grab them as soon as they arrive hot from the oven! The Salmon Pizza of my favourite dishes; the crust isn’t too thick, the salmon isn’t overcooked and cheesy topping is oh-so-decadent. Salmon and cheese equates an awesome combination.
Salmon (Sweet & Sour style)
Must try: Salmon & Pumpkin Congee
Available at the Chicken Rice and Laksa live station, the Salmon & Pumpkin Congee is oh-so-comforting! I loved it so much I had a second serving!
Rustic Mash Potato (top right of picture, along with the Salmonlicious items)
Get your carbohydrate fix here:
Fried Rice, Salmon Yaki Udon (MUST TRY!), Fried Carrot Cake
Rojak Live Station
Insider information: Since Buffet Town is under the Thai Express group that has New York New York and Heng Heng Curry Café under their belt, some recipes are found to be similar at Buffet TOwn, such as the Cream of Mushroom Soup and the Rojak!
For the carnivores:
Roast
Coffee Pork
Duck
Grill Station
Chicken and Beef Satays
For the spice lovers:
Chilli Crab
Spicy Eggplant
And of course, the ubiquitous crustacean station:
Personal favourites:
- Salmon and Pumpkin Congee (Laksa/Chicken Rice station)
- Salmon Yaki Udon (beside the Teppanyaki station)
- Salmon Pizza (Pizza station)
- Salmon Chatsuke (Tempura station)
- Seared Salmon Sashimi (Sashimi station)
- Cream of mushroom soup (Pasta Station)
- Rustic Mash Potato (near the Pizza station)
- Chilli Crab (Crab station)
Beverage Station
The highlight of the extensive beverage station is the Freshly Made Soya Bean Milk: dispensed unsweetened, you may adjust the level of sweetness according to your preferences with the amount of syrup added.
Dessert
Buffet Town offers quality ice cream; my favourite being the White Coffee Gelato!
Waffle and Crepe Station
Must-have: Crepe
Buffet Town does crepes the ‘thin-and-crisp’ style. It is so light on the stomach; you can afford to engulf a couple more than usual! Crepe wins Waffle hands down!
There’s a playground for children to run amok while parents continue feasting!
Business is brisk at Buffet Town, even on a Monday! Be sure to make reservations to secure a table!
We managed to get a table at a cosy corner where there is more privacy.
In conclusion:
I am always on the qui vive for affordable buffet places that gives value for money. Buffet Town certainly didn’t disappoint!
